My hair is dry and coarse. I can actually dump half a container of conditioner on my head and leave it there for an hour just to find out, it doesn't work well at all. At least it did before I found this on YouTube. I will link my video and the original video at the bottom of this page.
So how much is all of this going to cost you. Well I went to Costco and bought conditioner. It was a 25 oz. bottle of Pantene that cost me 20 dollars. At that same Costco, I can purchase 6- 8oz cans of coconut milk for 15 dollars. Trust me, I have no intension to make your head hurt with math so we'll make this one easy.
To make 24 oz. of conditioner, I would need 3 cans of coconut milk. That would be $7.50. Even if I said, OK let's figure we're using $2.50 of the other ingredients, that would make that bottle of conditioner only $10. That's half the price and, it works really well.

Place your coconut milk into a jar.
You don't need to use a mason jar but, whatever container you choose make sure the opening is wide enough for you to mix the conditioner when you are done using the ingredients.

If you expand the picture, you can get a better view. Here, I am putting 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar into the Coconut milk.
Apple Cider Vinegar can help with scalp health, help remove any buildup on your hair and, increase shine while limiting frizz.

With this step, I am adding in 1 tablespoon of Honey. Honey is an humectant which means it will pull moisture into your hair.
Honey will also help preserve your conditioner. It is known as an anti-microbial and anaerobic meaning it's without oxygen so nasties can't grow in it.

Next, I took 1 teaspoon of Coconut Oil and added it to the Coconut Milk. Now, since this conditioner has coconut milk in it, you must keep it in the refrigerator between uses. Is it a little bit of a pain to have to go to the frig before hitting the bathroom, sure but its not that bad.
Coconut Oil will melt at about 69 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. But since we're putting this in the frig, it will solidify. I'll show you how to handle that difficulty in a few steps.

Finally, I'm adding 1 tablespoon of Castor Oil to the conditioner. As I already mentioned, my hair is dry and coarse. If your hair is thin and oily, I would recommend using only a teaspoon. If your hair is normal, use two teaspoons. You can always add more. But if you make it to powerful for your hair type, that might cause you to throw it out and I don't want to see you do that.

You don't have to add essential oil if you don't want to. Here I am adding in 10 drops of Lavender and 10 drops of Rosemary.

What I've done here is cover the mason jar and mix all the contents together before putting it in the refrigerator. Now, we're not done yet. Leave it in the frig until it cools down. I'm wanting my coconut oil to get hard again.
Remember when I said that the coconut oil would solidify once put in the frig and allowed to chill down. That still happened, so I took my stick blender and mixed up everything. I have used it since and you can feel a little grit in the conditioner. It's not bad and it doesn't stay in your hair.
Of course, you can use fractionized coconut oil. That is created to stay liquid regardless of the temperature. However, I tend to make soaps so I'm keeping the coconut oil I've always used.
